THE NATUROMEDIC EMERGENCY COURSE IS BACK

Returning to Alberta After a Two-Year Hiatus

Alberta’s Only In-Person RA-Compliant IV Emergency Training
September 19–20, 2026 — Calgary, AB

If you perform Injection therapies in Alberta, emergency preparedness is not an option — it is a Restricted Activity requirement.

THE COURSE ALBERTA NDs HAVE TRUSTED FOR OVER 20 YEARS

When Dr. Michael Prytula created the NaturoMedic Emergency Medicine Course in the early 2000s, nothing like it existed.

The NaturoMedic Emergency Medicine Course was built specifically for naturopathic clinic practice. Every component has been updated to current evidence standards and includes real clinical scenarios, practical decision-making, and emergency situations that can occur in everyday naturopathic practice.

This is the course that set the standard.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN – AND DO

This course is hands-on. You won’t be watching slides for two days. The NaturoMedic course gives you the protocols, the hands-on repetition, and the clinical confidence that only comes from doing — not watching.

You’ll be running scenarios, making decisions, and drilling skills until they become reflex.

  • Recognition and rapid response to IV-related emergencies
  • Anaphylaxis and severe allergic reaction management
  • Cardiovascular and respiratory emergency protocols
  • Vasovagal syncope and loss of consciousness response
  • IV infiltration, sembolism, and line complications
  • Emergency medications: indications, dosing, and administration
  • Documentation, liability, and post-emergency protocols
  • Scenario-based practice with live supervised skill stations

THIS COURSE IS FOR NDs

  • who perform or plan to perform IV, ozone, chelation, prolo and other injectable therapies in your practice
  • need to satisfy RA requirements with in-person, skills-based training
  • want emergency training grounded in naturopathic clinical reality
  • value learning from practitioners with direct clinical and emergency experience, not from a pre-recorded lecture.

About the Instructor

Dr. Michael Nowazek

Clinical Director

Dr. Michael Nowazek, BSc, ND brings nearly 30 years of clinical and instructional experience to this series.

As the Clinical Director of Green Apple Health Care, he has dedicated his career to a Cause Based Medicine® approach.

Cause Based Medicine® is the systematic process of finding and treating the core cause of health concerns by using a classic naturopathic approach combined with scientific research to optimize patient outcomes.

Education & Credentials

Dr. Nowazek holds a Bachelor of Science from Brandon University (Major: Chemistry; Minor: Mathematics) and graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto with his Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree in 1997, following four years of rigorous study.

Clinical Expertise

His clinical practice encompasses decades of advanced training, clinical experience and as an instructor in Intravenous therapies, medical ozone therapy, high-dose vitamin C therapy, chelation therapy, regenerative injection techniques, stem cell therapy, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy. He has served as an instructor in emergency procedures since 2004, bringing additional depth to patient care and safety protocols.

Dr. Nowazek knows that naturopathic medicine has much to offer patients. His experience has clearly demonstrated to him that patients come to his clinic when they have tried everything else. His unique style and results-oriented process called Cause Based Medicine® is the foundation upon which he has built a respected and thriving practice offering effective treatment plans that address a wide range of health conditions and concerns for people in need. Each custom treatment plan incorporates his in-depth knowledge of classic naturopathic medicine, clinical experience, skills and abilities to maximize outcomes for his patients.

Dr. Nowazek has always said “science is the attempt to determine what nature has been doing for millions of years”. He believes that “the science” is always just catching up to what naturopathic doctors have been doing forever. He has always practiced the Cause Based Medicine® approach, where naturopathic medicine and treating the cause is primary, and the science or evidence is secondary. Dr. Nowazek has always prioritized what has been shown to actually work, from decades of current and historic naturopathic practice, over waiting for the science to catch up and prove it.

Since establishing his practice in Edmonton in 1997, Dr. Nowazek has built Green Apple Health Care into a highly successful clinic serving patients throughout Alberta.

Leadership & Professional Service

Dr. Nowazek’s commitment to the naturopathic profession extends beyond clinical practice.

  • He served as President of the Alberta Association of Naturopathic Practitioners (AANP) from 2001 to 2008, where he oversaw organizational operations in the development of provincial regulatory frameworks governing naturopathic medicine in Alberta.
  • He also served as Vice Chair of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND) from 2011 to 2016 and as a CNDA Council Member from 2020 to 2021.

Published Works

Dr. Nowazek has authored and published numerous patient education leaflets and booklets covering a wide variety of health topics including ozone therapy, injection therapies, adrenal gland function, thyroid gland function, food sensitivities, toxicity, and many others. Each of these very popular educational pieces is written in layman’s terms to help the patients to understand how their bodies function and what they can do to improve their health.

Hobbies and Activities

Dr. Nowazek participates in various extreme sports including combat sports, ice biking (cycling in the winter, down to -20°C), hiking, outback camping, fishing, and hunting. He enjoys spending as much time as possible with his wife of 25 years and four children in these activities.
